Centrally located in the Adirondacks, yet private, peaceful and inviting. Couples and families need look no further for a relaxing vacation at the Garnet Hill resort.
Discover easy access to the trail head of 55km of pristine cross-country ski trails. Rated as one of the 10 best in the country, these groomed XC ski and snow-shoe trails are also used for hiking and mountain biking depending on the season.
You could just snuggle up in one of the lazy boy recliners with a good book in front of the wood stove and breathe in the fresh air and listen to the rustling leaves. Dine on Northwoods china overlooking the deck and then onto the forever-wild Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area.
Our vacation rental home/house/cottage/cabin/chalet has everything you need to enjoy this precious natural resource, available at Garnet Hill Lodge's ski/bike shop just across the way. A short walk will find you at the tennis courts, basketball courts and nature trails. One trail leads to the Garnet Hill Lodge, which serves lunch and dinner, provides lawn games, billiards and boasts a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
The Schoolhouse is so named as it was originally the schoolhouse for the children of the nearby Garnet miners, over a hundred years ago. It still retains country charm and original antique furnishings.

A longer walk (or short 5 minute drive) can take you to the private waterfront on spring-fed 13th Lake which offers rugged Hiking on William Blake Pond or Balm of Gilead Mountain, Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Birding, Swimming, Loon-watching and Hunting seasonally.
A 10 minute drive down the mountain sets you down in Whitewater Rafting paradise along the Hudson River at North River. You could also tour the local Garnet Mines.
A 20 minute drive down the mountain leads you to a stroll in charming North Creek, home of the Upper Hudson River Railroad. A ride on this restored train delivers breathtaking views of the Hudson River, fascinating history, and gives a great time for the kids. Has gift shop and museum. North Creek itself is exceptional for well-appointed stores, such as the Hudson River Trading Company with one-of-a-kind Adirondack gifts and clothing, outdoors store Mountain & Boardertown with a real stream and rainstorm inside, and Cafe Sarah, home to the most mouth-watering baked goods and gourmet sandwiches for miles around.
A bit further on is Gore Mountain, a destination for downhill skiers which also has romantic gondola rides to appreciate the gorgeous mountain scenery. The children will also enjoy the playground at the nearby Ski Bowl park.
Continue south to Warrensburg for golf and antiques and the Riverside Farmer's Market (Fridays), or to the east to Upyonda Farm, in Bolton Landing, 73 acres with a spectacular view overlooking Lake George. Public nature programs on a variety of topics are presented year round. Yoga classes through Yoga in the Adirondacks are available in nearby Chestertown, Bakers Mills and Blue Mountain Lake.
If you're really looking for action, look no further than Lake George packed with Restaurants, Outlet Shopping, Boating, Para Sailing, Minature Golf and activities for the whole family, including The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom amusement park about 40 minutes away.
An hour's drive could take you to the Adirondack Museum, in Blue Mountain Lake. Or perhaps visit the Visitor Interpretive Center at Newcomb. Enjoy the scenic trip on the way.
